You have many different choices with the game. You can choose to sing by yourself or a duet (if you have another microphone). Also you can do plain karaoke (if you don't like the game or your friends judging you). You can choose your own character and locations also.

The game itself isn't really that hard as long as you can get your pitch relatively close to the original key. In the easy level, you can be a few octaves off but the higher the level the better you have to be to get a good score. All in all it is a great game. It does tend to get boring after awhile especially if you don't know all the songs that well and are stuck only to singing a couple of them.

They do have song clips when you are picking your song so that you know if you are familiar with the song or not before you start. You can rent it first if you don't know if you like to karaoke or not.

It would be suited for your children especially if they had talent or special skill in singing. To the parents, just make it sure that you should be responsible for giving this kind of thing. Nevertheless, karaoke machine is a great pleasure for the kids, not just for adults.
