An Example of a MIDI Karaoke: Discovering vanBasco's Karaoke Player; Its Features and Functions

vanBasco's Karaoke Player is a freeware item for consumption that plays Karaoke and standard MIDI files. The features include:

The user-interface of vanBasco's Karaoke Player consists of the following windows:

Main Window-The main program window mimic to a large extent, video or music tape players and works much the same. You can open/close all the other player windows here, e.g. the Karaoke window.

Karaoke window-The Karaoke window gives you the "sing-along" words for the song being played (if the file supports it, that is, if the file contains the lyrics). There are up to four lines displayed. You can make the word display window larger or smaller, or you can make the Karaoke window full-screen. There are also several options for you to configure, such as background image, font, colors.

Control window- In the control window, you can change the tempo, key, and volume of the song you are playing. You can even save the settings to the play list so that the next time you load that song from the play list, these options will be restored automatically.

Midi output window- The MIDI output window shows what's happening on each channel (instrument). You can silent one or several instruments, and you can also mark a channel as a solo instrument.

Piano window- The piano window displays notes in real-time in a piano-keyboard style. If there are "solo" channels, only notes on these channels are shown. The piano window can be helpful for learning songs.

Play list window- In the play list window, you create and edit play lists comprised of individual songs. You can create as many play lists as you wish, and every play list can hold thousands of songs.
You can stall a new skin for the player. By installing a new skin, you can change the looks of vanBasco's Karaoke Player, i.e. you can give the user-interface of the program a completely new appearance.

Here are the procedures in installing a new skin for vanBasco's Karaoke Player:

1. First download the .zip-archive of the file, e.g. skin.zip. Then extract the contents of the downloaded file to the installation folder of vanBasco's Karaoke Player, e.g. C:\Program Files\vanBasco's Karaoke Player.

2. Second, inside vanBasco's Karaoke Player, open the setup dialog. (You get to the setup dialog by clicking the note button in the top-left corner in the main program window of vanBasco's Karaoke Player and choosing "Setup...".)

3. Third, choose the "Misc" tab. In the box labeled "Skin" select the skin you just installed. Then close the setup dialog by clicking the "OK" button.

4. Finally, the last step is to restart vanBasco's Karaoke Player. Then you may now enjoy using it.

There are additional language packs for vanBasco's player.The default download of vanBasco's Karaoke Player includes English, a German, an Italian and a Spanish language pack. Here you can download more language packs. These are language packs created by users of vanBasco's Karaoke Player.

To install a language pack, simply download the respective ".exe" file from this page and run it. This will automatically set up the desired language within vanBasco's Karaoke Player.
